What's On My Hobby Desk: Star Wars Legion
Hi everyone, just wanted to show off some of what I've been working on recently. With our Star Wars: Legion learn to play and tournament around the corner, I have been madly dashing through completing some squads and commanders to use.First we have Anakin and friends. These were given to me second hand, built and sort of primed. I'm pretty happy with the way they came out, considering I didn't get to work on them right from the start.
The Sabre Tank was probably the hardest to work on. I primed it white, then pinwashed a ton of black. The problem was I wasn't using a thin enough brush for the pinwashing, and made a lot of smudges. So when I had to go back and fix them you can see a different tone of white.
Luke was fun because I like working on solo models, and flesh tones are always a treat. I have to figure out my formula for lightsabers though, as this one is a 5/10 for me.
I really rushed through the Stormtroopers but I think they came out ok. Prime white, pin wash black, Black Legion contrast on weapons and some belts. Second coat of pinwash for under armors. Minor white cleanup.
Lastly were the wookies, which were a joy to work on. Contrast the fur, add some extra tones and drybrush a bit. Thinned out Black Legion for the belts, Snakebite Leather for the satchels, and quick-gen metallics. Fast and effective.
Now lets see if I can finish some Rebels in 4 days...

MTG Weekly- Commander Nights at Wandering Adven...
Weekly Commander Night at Wandering Adventures — Join Us Every Wednesday
Every Wednesday evening, Wandering Adventures opens its doors to fans of Magic: The Gathering for casual but structured Commander night. Whether you’re a longtime veteran or just looking to try out Commander, Wednesday is your chance to sit down with a group, meet fellow players, and experience multiplayer Magic in a fun, social environment.
What sets our night apart is that we’re using the Commander Brackets Beta system — specifically focusing on Bracket 2 decks (also called “Core”). This ensures that games stay balanced, enjoyable, and accessible, without being overwhelming.
What Are Commander Brackets — And Why They Matter
Commander Brackets were introduced to create a common language and shared expectations around deck power and gameplay experience.
The system divides decks into five levels:
Bracket 1 (Exhibition): ultra‐casual or thematic decks.
Bracket 2 (Core): decks around the power of an average pre-constructed deck — the baseline for most multiplayer Commander games.
Bracket 3 (Upgraded), Bracket 4 (Optimized), and Bracket 5 (cEDH): increasingly powerful, tuned, or competitive builds.
For Core (Bracket 2), the goals are clear: games should be fun, social, moderately competitive — and typically last at least eight turns before someone wins or loses.
By making Wednesday night a “Bracket 2 night,” we aim to offer a predictable, balanced experience for people coming together with different decks. It keeps things fair, friendly, and far less likely to result in “unwinnable” scenarios for newer or casual players.
How to Build a Bracket 2 (Core) Deck — Tips
If you’re thinking of bringing a deck, here’s how to make sure it fits within Bracket 2 guidelines:
Aim for a “precon-plus” power level. Think of Core as roughly on par with a typical preconstructed Commander deck. You don’t need every perfect card, but the deck should be solid enough to hold its own.
Prioritize theme over raw power. Use flavorful or thematic cards — this helps prevent the deck from getting tuned too aggressively.
Avoid extreme combos or “infinite” loops. Bracket 2 isn’t the place for consistent two-card infinite combos, mass land denial, or repetitive extra-turn chains.
Balance power with pacing. Your deck should allow for “big plays,” but the game should evolve over multiple turns — not end abruptly.
Don’t over-optimize. It’s easy to take a precon and start swapping in staples or powerful cards — but that often pushes a deck into a higher bracket. Instead, focus on maintaining fun and balanced gameplay.
What to Expect Wednesday Nights at Wandering Adventures
A laid-back, friendly environment — perfect for casual players and newcomers.
Games that present real decisions, meaningful swings, and multiplayer interaction — without the pressure of cEDH-level optimization.
A mix of decks: some standard, some thematic, all eligible for Core / Bracket 2.
A good chance to meet other local Commander fans, try different strategies, and learn the format.
If you’ve ever wanted to play Commander in a store setting, or just get together with like-minded players and enjoy games that feel fair and fun — Wednesday is your night. Bring your deck, your friends, and maybe a sleeve or two for trade.
See you at the table.
