Wandering Adventures 2026 Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts for Every Kind of Gamer
Every December, the same thing happens at the counter. Someone walks in, looks around at the walls of cards, paints and miniatures, and says "my son/daughter/husband/friend is into this stuff, and I have no idea what to buy." If that's you, don't worry. You're in the right place, and this guide will make it easy.
For the Pokémon fan
Booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes are the safe bet, and this year the 30th anniversary product makes it an especially good time to gift Pokémon. If they already play, a pack of Dragon Shield sleeves and a deck box are the gifts players actually use every week. If they're new, consider pairing a gift with a trip to one of our Pokémon Weekly Play nights. Entry includes product, and it's the best way for a new player to learn.
For the Warhammer player
The golden rule: don't guess at a new army. Ask what they already collect, then buy a box that adds to it. If you can't find out, faction dice and a White Dwarf issue are great stocking stuffers that every Warhammer player appreciates. Paints and tools are also a guaranteed win, which brings us to...
For the miniature painter
I've been painting miniatures for 20 years, and I can tell you nobody ever has enough paint. A paint set is a great starting point for a beginner. For someone who already paints, quality brushes, a good set of clippers, hobby glue, or basing supplies are things they'll reach for every single session. We carry Citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter and AK Interactive, so tell us what they use and we'll help you pick.
For the D&D and RPG player
Dice are the classic RPG gift, and every player wants another set. We stock Chessex and more. Sourcebooks are the bigger gift, and with D&D: World of Warcraft on the way, this is a fun year to be an RPG fan.
When you really don't know
Get a gift card. Seriously. Gamers know exactly what they want, and a gift card lets them pick it out themselves. You can grab one in store or online.
