The Vermintide Cometh! Looking at Age of Sigmar 4.0
Age of Sigmar 4th edition launch day has finally been announced and it is July 13th! We have a great group of AoS players here at Wandering Adventures, and I wanted to take a look at some of what is coming for Age of Sigmar here at the store, and in this new edition.
To start, we will be doing a midnight launch, much like we did for 40K's Leviathan. We will gather around 11PM for snacks and chatter about the new edition, and try out some of the new Spearhead rules. Then when the clock strikes 12, those who pre-ordered can crack open their boxes and get a head start on looking at what is to come this edition.
Don't forget to get in touch with us if you want to pre-order your copy!

Next up will be our Dawn Of Legends League. It is our Age of Sigmar league, where generals will play 6 games over 3 months against arranged opponents, vying for domination of the mortal realms! Our Age of Sigmar leagues are always fun, competitive and action packed

Lastly I wanted to mention a couple of the cool rules that I've seen from the new edition.
Terrain and Battlefields:
You can find GW's explanation HERE.
I really like that they are clarifying terrain, and giving you battlefield layouts. Maybe this is a narrow like for me being a game store owner, but it seems like gone are the days of "how does this terrain work" and "how do we set up the battlefield." Layouts are clear, and terrain effects are clear. You want terrain in your games, but you don't want it to influence the winner too much, so these mirrored battlefields look really nice, and will help speed up a game entirely. Bye-bye defenders setting up the battlefield.
Anatomy Of A Warscroll:
You can find GW's explanation HERE.
At first glance, the warscrolls might seem a bit wordy. But I actually believe after a couple games they will make a great reference and are clean but also allow a unit to express themselves on the tabletop. You can take a quick scan and find everything you need from passives to abilities, and when they word. The big thing is doing your memorize to memorize the color coding of phases, but once you do that warscrolls will be easily readable and you will miss less abilities.
What I will miss (but maybe not)
Subfactions. I always loved subfactions. It was my way of expressing my theme on the field, and picking combinations I liked. So far, it looks like they are gone. However, it looks like they might have even improved on this system with Battle Formations. Maybe your whole army won't gain the formation abilities, but what is kind of cool is you will be able to fit multiple fun abilities into one army. Once we have the full rules this will be clearer.
That's all for today! If you want to pre-order AoS 4.0 let us know!
